Anyone hunting North Cherokee next week. Headed up Friday to hunt 5 days. Going to do my best to call to the gun and kill a ridge running Longbeard. Just built a fresh bone yelper from the wing of an unusually large Gobbler I had killed this past Spring. 100% pure Gobbler talk ;) I can't friggin wait :D

I've never hunted turkey in the fall. I've not been able to deer hunt yet so I'm thinking of going turkey hunting Saturday morning before heading to Catoosa to scout. I really need some woods time to get away.
What approach would I take to call up a Tom in the fall? What calls do you try and imitate?
I don't have a trumpet, wingbone or a long box.
I can do a pretty good Kee Kee on a pot call.

Gobbler yelps and clucks. i also like to put on a fight with aggressive purring and wing beating. Even gobble at them sometimes. Locating them is the hard part :) Gobbler yelps and clucks can be made easily on any pot call. Use the center of the soundboard. Deeper, courser tone. Slow them down and draw them out more. Good luck.

If you can find a group of toms on the roost and get in close there is a very good chance you can call them in with hen sounds, they will gobble and strut to the gun. I've done that several times
