Fav wood for call or striker?

just see what people tend to like out there. I have a buddy that makes his own calls so i have a tone of different wood types on strikers from Maple to Pink Ivory. Each has its own sound and pitch.

I tend to like the Osage or Purple Heart strikers.

Anyone else have an opinion of the wood types they tend to like?

I dont use slate calls anymore but back when I did I like Purple Heart the best.

Best striker on the market, period IMO. Sounds great on every surface it has touched that I have seen.

Bottom line IMO, if it has plastic anywhere on the striker, it doesn't matter what wood is involved it is junk. All wood strikers resonate better, and are much easier to handle.

Just got it at the turkey convention in nashville. I've tried it at home on all my slates; glass, slate, aluminum, old yeller; it sounds great on all of them. ( bet it'll sound even better when I hear a tom cut loose on it!)

Strikers are like women you can try alot but only one will steal your heart.I bought a wenge wood striker 8 years ago at a nwtf convention and would'nt trade it for nothing.I also like purple heart it is a hard wood and sounds great.

Laminate birch, and I can't remember the price.

yea the laminate and it was $15 at the show.
