Feathers and Bitz

I don't. Just make sure you don't have so much offset or helical that the entire feather doesn't touch the arrow good.

I don't insert the feathers all the way on the front and back ends when using my bitz. I let the pressure against the arrow shaft push on them for good adhesion. Other than that no differences.

I use less helical and allow additional drying time for feathers because they tend to curl away from the shaft if you pull off the clamp too quick.

One thing you could try when using feather fletching. Get some clear lacquer dip from Bohning. It maybe called blue clear lacquer. But it is clear. Also get some lacquer thinner as well. Pour the lacquer in a mason jar and add some thinner to it. You want this mixture to be fairly thin.....to where it will drip from the stir stick and be done in about 4 -8 seconds. You will need to make a drying rack in a non airy spot. Pour the mixture in a 12 inch dip tube and let it set for a few hours to allow the bubbles to escape the mixture. You only need to dip about 7 inches of the arrow in order to get complete coverage of the fletching area on the arrow. When you dip it, let it drip over the tube so you don't waste very much of the lacquer. Once it has quit dripping hang it up on the rack. Be sure to look for air bubbles in the lacquer once you hang it. You can get the bubbles out now with a hyperdermic needle but if youy wait they are there till you strip this off. Let it dry for 24 hours. Once dry you can fletch when your ready. Fletching time is shorter and you get a better bond on the fletching with this. I have arrows I done 20 years ago that look like brand new.If you try this and need help holler at me.

Thanks Tox. I've already got a few fletched just to see how they do. I'll let you know how it goes. If it don't work I refer back to this for plan B.
