Has anyone tried these shells and what was your thoughts on them, I love them but are hard to find for the 12 gauge 3 1/2" mags
Those "heavyweights" are not the standard Federal Flight Control Turkey load you'll usually see on the shelf. I tried those, too, but they are so "heavy", that you get significantly fewer pellets in an ounce of shot. In my testing, the Windchester Elite Extended Range (about 10% heavier than lead) seemed to be the best overall turkey load for me.buckdead said:havent tried em personally, but ive heard good things about the federal heavyweight flight control shells. ive heard they shoot well out of just about any choke that doesnt have the wad strippers in it.

Had the Federal heavyweights patterned well with #6 shot, I'd have been more impressed. They were fine with #5, but not as dense as the Winchester Extendeds in #5.
I couldn't find the Federal Heavyweights in a #7, but was impressed with the idea of a size 7 shot having more punch than a #5 standard lead.buckdead said:Did you try the #7s? The 7s are the only thing ive really heard much about and its all been good.
