I really did not get to see him play but for a very short season in 81. The Strike happened in June 81 and when it was over I never watched another MLB except for one after that and that was to watch the Cubs win the World Series. I figure it was not gonna happen again in 100 years so I had better catch it while I could.

I was a diehard Dodger fan at that time.

Talk about a guy who did not look like an athlete. And the way he'd close his eyes in his windup was crazy.

But his screwball baffled many hitters.

Hate to hear of his passing. Saw about a month ago he was having health issues.

i remember him. he wasnt scared of a cheeseburger, but was a good pitcher when i was a kid

I wasn't really ever that into baseball, but did kind of follow him some. Shame he died that young.

Dude looked like a tall version of Tattoo from Fantasy Island but he could Whip it! Enjoyed watching him pitch for many years

I had a buddy in elementary school and his dad was a huge Dodgers fan . He picked us up at school early one day and took us to see Fernando pitch against the Braves. I will never forget that and still like the Dodgers to this day. He could keep hitters off balance for sure.
