Fernando Valenzuela dead at 63.

He was a pitching sensation back in the early 80's.

I really did not get to see him play but for a very short season in 81. The Strike happened in June 81 and when it was over I never watched another MLB except for one after that and that was to watch the Cubs win the World Series. I figure it was not gonna happen again in 100 years so I had better catch it while I could.
 
I was a diehard Dodger fan at that time.

Talk about a guy who did not look like an athlete. And the way he'd close his eyes in his windup was crazy.

But his screwball baffled many hitters.
 
I had a buddy in elementary school and his dad was a huge Dodgers fan . He picked us up at school early one day and took us to see Fernando pitch against the Braves. I will never forget that and still like the Dodgers to this day. He could keep hitters off balance for sure.
