After a lot of hunts with very little gobbling and no gobbling on the ground, today the tide turned. Numbers are way down but I did hear two this morning. The first one I got within range but never could see it over a rise. Gobbled it's head off but wouldn't peak over. The second one I struck up later in the morning just walking and calling. It first responded from probably 400 yards away, I moved in toward it maybe 100 yards, called again, it gobbled still 250-300 yards away, by the time I walked another 30-40 yards, it gobbled again right on me, I sat down and by the time I was ready, I could hear it spitting and drumming. It nearly ran me over in half strut. 20 pounds ,10.75 beard, 1 inch spurs. Time to head to another county or something now.
