Was walking in Saturday between the storms and saw one strutting in the field.
I backed up and made a big circle around him to get to the other side of the field.
got set up made 3 yelps and could see him in full strut turn around and come out of strut and start heading to me.
I could hear some hens but couldnt see them till he got closer for the terrain.
the the next storm hit and thunder and heavy rain ran him into the woods.
I made a couple more yelps and he wanted nothing to do with it.
the hens did though they were coming on a string.
I noticed the lead hen was the bearded hen that a buddy of mine had seen while scouting before season.
She took the #5 shot around 40 yards
1st bird this year,
2nd bird ever
