Finally got the collect call from down South (Uncle Smokey)

Well, it was about 2:00 am and my phone started ringing off the hook. Of course, it was a collect call from Uncle Smokey and he was all fired up. He told me that no one could be more "fired up" except maybe the two players that were suspended for the game..... :rotf:

It was hard to hear Uncle Smokey from all the background noise coming from the Long Swamp Bar and Grill. Finally he calmed down and started going over all the news clipping that he read above the urinal, that involved the game this weekend.....

He told me that this would come down to a big play on special teams and that would be the differences. He mentioned that either VHlll or Callaway were going to take one to the house. He also told me after getting slapped in the head by a big limb while snipe hunting, the answer came to him...... :D I could hear him chug down his drink before he spit it out, "Gators win by 4"..... :tu:

He told me that the 8 man hot tub would be all filled up for roof jumping so they could celebrate after the game.... :mrgreen:

Lol, awesome. :lol:

I am struggling how to pick this game in the pick 'em. I may rank it as my 1-point game because I just don't have any gut feel for which way it will go.

Guess Smokey didnt get the memo that this game is usually decided on who wins the day running the ball. The last two years UF has held TN to 96 yds of total rushing yards. Last season Worley wouldnt run the ball and Hurd got dinged up and didnt play the whole game. UF hasnt had much success running the ball from what Ive seen.


If its gonna be down to a special teams play, UF is in trouble. If there is one thing that Butch Jones has done right at TN, he has a SOLID special teams unit. UF will be playing from near their own goal line the biggest part of the game and from what Ive seen, UT has a very dangerous group of return guys.

100% true. Tennessee has outrushed Florida this season by more than 90 yards a game. UT's punt and kick return games have been very good, too. That being said, its the Florida game, none of that matters! Go Vols!!

100% true. Tennessee has outrushed Florida this season by more than 90 yards a game. UT's punt and kick return games have been very good, too. That being said, its the Florida game, none of that matters! Go Vols!!

Here's why Uncle Smokey probably didn't even bother with the rushing. OU is the only "D" that UT had faced so far this season and UFs "D" is probably better. BG "D" was ranked 114th last season and the last team UT played, well..... Here's what they did as a team against OU:

Rushed ATT. 33 Total Yards 112 Yards Per Avg. 3.4 TD 0 Those are not good #s

Lets crunch the rushing yards a little further. There was one long run of 43 yards. If you look at the rest of the rushing performance it came out to:

a total of 69 yards and avg. 2.1 yard per att.


The running game in the past has proven to be the key to victory but I'm not sure either of these teams can run the ball with those O-Lines..... :tu: Keep in mind that Uncle Smokey is a proven winner on here...... :tu:

Going off of that then, why would Smokey even mention special teams play then. TN has a punter that is averaging around 48 to 50 yards a punt. Evan Berry himself is averaging 48 yds per kickoff attempt and has one TD. Cam Sutton has already housed one punt return this year. Kamara has only attempted 2 punt returns that I know of and one of the two was a TD. The other would have been if not for a penalty.


Yeah I know, all of that was against BG and WCU. Nothing really noteworthy from the OK game as far as return yardage but overall was a solid ST game and OK worked from deep in there own territory most of the night.

UF dont have any ST numbers like that in their first 3 games. TN will eat UFs lunch as far as special teams go.

Guys, I just got back from Nashvegas and I saw this Uncle Smokey and believe me he is a lush, Yeah he was talking gator smash-mouth, he sounded more Cajun but could be that he was upset about some date he had with some gal named Caitlyn that apparently got him slobbery drunk and pretty much MAN handled him, but anyway while at the bar watching the Giants game last night he pretty well was Trash talking everyone except his wonderful gators, and how TN was nothing but losers, and the next thing I know he went to men rooms, and I never seen him afterwards, but did notice three HUGE guys leaving that area laughing about the last time about some drunk drowning in the toilet bowl.
The rest of us just went back to watching the game and enjoyed the rest of the night. :stir:

To make a long story short,Gators offense stinks,the defense is good which can keep them in a game but Gators had to hang on to win two games against two weak opponents that Tennessee would light up.Florida may win the game if Tennessee turns the ball over but they haven't had many turnovers so far.

One more point,I believe Florida will see Dobbs run the ball a lot more than he has the first 3 games

Uncle Smoky was close, it wasn't Callaway taking it to the house on special teams but he did take the game winning catch to the house.... :)

I did check on Uncle Smoky and the last word I got they were jumping garbage cans on the Honda 75.... :)

I am pretty sure that is not the only stupid thing you are going to say, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt! :tu: :tu:

You "predict" a Vo11s loss every game, so you will naturally be right sometimes, especially when they play Florida.
