Yesterday afternoon I got onboard. Shot a spike and a doe. Maury county.

I had not been seeing many deer this year. I missed the two shots at does - once with bow and once with gun. I missed first 15 days of rifle season due to travel. I let a 6 pt and spike walk in early Dec. Then I hurt my back and was out until this week. I was ready to shoot anything that came by due to time running out.

Two does ran away on my way in, near the shooting house. I got settled in and in an hour, a spike walked by from behind. Shot it at the first opportunity and it piled up right in front. Waited some more and the two does returned. Shot the first one at the first opportunity. Didn't wait for the "perfect moment" - one step forward, one step sideways etc (that never happened this year). That one also piled up in front, in my view, but it ran a little far. The other doe ran along with it. It was wandering around where the other one was laying. I didn't take a shot at it as I already had hands full.

Then I called my friend who helped with the dragging and processing. Was 11pm when we were done with it. I am very sore this am and very thankful for the harvest.

The after shooting process is getting harder with each passing year..
