FINALLY......

NFL has not been the same since the 70s and 80s. Players jump teams every other year. If fantasy football didn't exist it wouldn't be popular. That's why its set up for individual players.

Take this stuff to NASCAR... :D

The game has certainly changed since the 70s and 80s, but what game hasn't? Plus, the NFL has only gotten bigger since the 70s and 80s. Sure, fantasy football is very popular, but NFL stadiums sold out full of TEAM fans 3 nights a week, many of which are broadcast nationally and internationally. You also make it sound like the players choose to jump teams. Being able to move players around the league insures that the league as a whole maintains the very highest level of talent. For me, I much prefer to observe the game of football played at the highest level of athleticism. I'm not a huge "team" fan per say, nor do I play Fantasy football, I just enjoy the game of football. Since it is a time commitment to watch football, I'd rather watch it played professionally rather than amateurishly.
I'm 100% sure that it is entirely possible to live in social circles where college football reigns supreme -especially in SEC country. That being said, I'm here to tell you that those social circles are not necessarily reflective of the perspective of football and sports fans in general.

I guess it all depends on if you root for players or teams. Grew up a fins fan and loved the Shula days. Even watched the Don Shula show as a kid..... :)

I will go out on the limb and say that there is more interest in College Football that NFL, the main reason I say this is that you have more Colleges that are accessible to the fans vs NFL.
I also use to and still do to a point follow players/coaches vs a team, Peyton "the SuperManning" first and foremost.

I don't watch Pro ball, but the NFL is heads and shoulders above anything else...it isn't really even close. College Football it next, but a distant 2nd place.
