Was questioning my decision to take the first week off work, I've been after them every day since opener, last 2 days getting beat by these field birds. This morning I met a friend who owns some land right next to the WMA and we headed down to the field where I've seen em last 2 mornings. Sure nuff they were roosted all along the creek and came down right in front of us. Unfortunately he missed his bird due to some vines he had to shoot through. Almost doubled up. He hasn't killed a turkey before, so I'm bummed for him, but I finally beat these dang field dwellers.

I have a lot of footage to go through today but hopefully can get a video up in a reasonable time.

Awesome, good looking bird! Congrats for finally getting on the board.. Ive been getting whipped as well. Hope to end the misery this weekend! haha
 
Here's how many miles my iPhone says I walked the past week. And today they just flew down into our laps and went to strutting

I couldn't tell, but it's possible. If it's them then they are using the other side of the field now. The jakes were with them and the toms almost sounded like jakes at first, kind of like the ones we were on.

Starting the task of weeding through 18 GB of footage. 321 individual clips since Monday...most will get deleted. Gonna take a minute. This morning was great.

The real challenge will be putting a weeks worth of hunting into a video that isn't so long that people lose interest. I've got turkey legs simmering and wingbones cooking while I work...
