I've had one of the slowest seasons, I've ever had, and this morning was no different. Heard a gobble on the limb way off a couple of properties over and then nothing when they hit the ground. Then the usual hen procession, with no toms... About 9 am I was about to give up and I hear a gobble about 150 yds away. I knew he was not on my property yet, so I waited a few minutes and then called real light. He gobbled and I knew he was on my property. I was on one side of my power line easement and he was on the other. It wasn't long and I see two red heads coming out of the woods into the easement. They never strutted, but were obviously looking for the hen. They came across and got in front of me so I took the shot. He was 42 yds according to my range finder. I ranged him after I shot. He barely twitched. I hit him with a 3.5" LB XR #5 and it turned the lights out quick.
