Re: Finally

Congrats Scott. I am getting LOTS of reports of male birds grouping back up from SW TN to Middle TN. One buddy of mine worked some gobbling birds this past weekend in SW TN, but they never would commit, UNTIL he gobbled at them with his mouth call. The old bird peeled off and committed at the gobbling, but never would come look at just the hen calls, and this guy is pretty darn good on a diaphragm call. This took place on private land.

We saw 5 toms together on Ames yesterday , didn't see a single hen with them

So what's the tactic when they're grouping back up and not responding to hen calls? Just try to get in front of them?

Hoping to find them roosted in the same spot they have been but need a back up plan.

Yea pretty much, it's also a good time to try to fan them.

Not as much fun, but bust up the group before roost... easy pickings the next day

I don't ever get the chance to hunt afternoons. Just mornings for me. They've been roosting in the same general area for weeks now but I've been just a little too late to get close enough to them before day break.
