Well, I finally tagged out my 3rd buck and am finished for the year! I have been bow hunting since 2008 and last year I got my 1st deer ever (doe). This year I was able to scout succesfully and have several opportunities to pick my deer to shoot at. Unfortunately I missed 2 different shots on does this season!!!! But learned alot regarding angle shots from the stand and also learned about reading a deer's body for alertness or chilling out. My last buck, yesterday at 12:50 was a crazy experience. He literally sneaked under me and I was only 12' up, was smelling the bush below me because I sprinkled Golden Estrus on it from the stand earlier. He was sniffing like a bloodhoud!! At 10' away from the tree I took a shot and undershot him somehow! He jumped and started snorting and stomping the ground crazy! I got my second arrow nocked and drew on him, he looked straight at me eye to eye and I froze, then he looked down and I shot my arrow and it went in his neck! He took off with arrow hanging out like an antenna. After 2 hours I went down scouted the thick area and swamp area. No luck, but after crossing an open field I saw him 50' from where I parked my truck! A tree must have jammed the arrow into his lungs because they were both Muzzy Marked! He wasn't a trophy by any means but he is meat in the freezer! I am hooked on bowhunting and can't wait for turkey season next spring! Below is my history of hunting deer!

Does your 3rd buck have 3 inch antlers, if not you could have checked him as a antlerless deer and kept hunting

Congrats on a good season. I know why you tagged out early. Since you are a bowhunter it would be tough sitting in the stand during the rut with a bow watching those big bucks chasing does just out of range... LOL

ahhh Fairchaser, the game gets funner when the deer patterns change. Thats what I love about bow hunting. Doe week is this week so I will be out there trying to get my one doe for the season. Hope to see both my boys get their first deer this Friday!! Good luck to you guys and be safe out there!!

I realized that I am a whole year behind on the listed dates of the pics I posted,,, The doe was 2010 season, and the bucks are this year 2011... need more coffee! This is another pic of the last buck. Both antlers are broken, one to the nub and the other is roughly 5 inches long.
