A few days ago I contacted Jim via PM concerning the flash on my Sony camera that is in my homebrew trailcam, which is 5 years old.

I told him that it wasn't one of his units. He said send it on and he would take care of my issues. I had also noticed that when it rained very hard, the unit was getting some moisture in it and told him I needed a new seal around the door.

After talking back and forth I sent him the whole unit and told him to do what he does. He said no problem.

Tuesday 24th I finally got it in the mail to Jim. He received it today 26th and went to work on it. This evening I received word it was DONE and READY for shipment.

Guys if you need anything "homebrew" do not hesitate to contact Jim! Also you CAN'T beat the turn around on his work.

Thanks again Jim! ;)

Here is my new and improved trailcam with ALL of Jim's updates.

Got your unit this morning. Opened it up and went to work on it. Replaced the flash assembly in the camera. While I had the camera open I went ahead and added you some external camera power. Closed up the camera and tested everything. Works great. Put you 2 C cells in the case for external camera power. Had to use a different 9v holder to get the room. Worked nicely. Put you a new neoprene rope seal in the case. Should last forever. Here are some pics of the new and improved "FlipperCam" !!!

Good deal. I would not expect anything but the best from Jim based on yours and other TnDeer member's comments. I have a few P41s that I need to ship to him in the next few weeks. One has a leaky o-ring and the other has a long and narrow 0.65 fresnel lense that I need swapped out to 0.90 wide angle.

X2 Jim is a class act, but not only does he do repairs, he sells some very nice cameras, and he STANDS BEHIND his work too!
Many other sites highly recommend Jim as well. If anyone was in the market for a trail cam, I can tell you, for the time being I would stay away from the commercial cameras (unless you are in the higher end of things, Reconyx, etc) Dollar for dollar, the 350.00 and under commercial cameras will not compare to a Homebrew Jim can assemble for you!!

Yes...I forgot to add that everything he did to my trailcamera has a warranty on it, he stands behind his repairs also.

Yup, I had been tossing around the idea of starting to use trail cameras since I am overseas and therefore really cant do any scouting, but I was always wary of going out and spending the money on a comercial one with all of the problems people seem to have with them. So I have Jim making me a camera as we speak, looking forward to getting it in the woods :-) Definetly go with the homebrew, it will save you headache in the long run

Just bought one from him. Put it out Saturday so haven't had time to see how it does but I've heard nothing but great things and JIm is very helpful.
