Had a day off and decided to get after them tis morning. Went to my first spot and saw and heard a big fat zero. Was on my way to another spot and decided to stop in at a spot i had not been to this year in the morning, but have seen birds before. I eased into the woods and made my way to one of the fields and when i got within about 50 yds i swore i heard a hen putting and clucking so i got on alert. as i eased forward and got about 30 yds out i could make out a fan easing down the field line through the trees. I eased ahead and could see that there was a hen and a tom strutting for her. I figured two turkeys and working away from me now, just sneak up and bust his head. got within 20 yds and there was a n opening and he was strutting in it but away from me. I waited for him to come out of strut, but he veered out of the lane before doing so. then went back into strut moving away. I only had about 12 yds till the path i was on opened into the field, so i continued to ease up as i had no shot. I was thinkin when i got to the opening, i would just wait for the right moment and shoot him. well i started easing forward and when i got within about 8 yds of the opening i saw three more heads pop up and it was all over but the :cry: . Oh well i'll get back after them soon enough.
