well after a neck injury that killed the last weeks of my deer season, ive finally got the feeling and some of the strength back in my left arm. so today was the first day of turkey season for me. located a gobbler on a farm about 1pm. called him off and on for an hour and a half from the first stand. had single hens come in on me, which is good. he didnt want to come out of that one field and cross a thicket into the field i set up on, so i pulled up and flanked him through the woods and setup on the downhill side of the huge field. since i saw a bunch of single hens only one decoy went down about 5 yards into the woods from the field.

i hit the lohman 870 box call and he thundered on the other side of the hilltop. i put the call down and put the 500 on my shoulder. 2 minutes later here comes 6 gobblers running and strutting. the lead bird looked good so i took him as soon as he cleared the tree, at 25 yards.

10 inch beard
18 lbs
3/4 spur(one looked like it had been broke)
