A little slow getting around to posting this, but had a great first few days of the season.

I didn't get to hunt opening morning, but I made up for lost time later that afternoon.

Sunday morning I took a good friend who had never killed one to another farm. Had one gobble good on the limb but go quite when his feet touched the ground. We changed our setup and promptly called three up. Not what we were hoping for, but no shame in loosing your turkey virginity to a jake. And I could see the excitement shaking out of my friend when they flew a small creek and landed at 25 yards.

After getting back to the truck, I got stuck.

After getting unstuck and eating lunch, my buddy went to clean his jake and I headed to another spot. The Friday/Saturday rains had the creek that divides the property up pretty high, so I had to find a log to cross. Not the best log I've ever crossed, but not the worst.

After I got across, it didn't take long to find a volunteer. Struck this one at 3:30 and took this picture at 3:39. He probably gobbled 25 times in those 9 minutes.

He was a 2 yr old, but a butterball.

Monday I went with another guy to a pretty timber spot. We were covered up with turkeys but didn't close the deal. Called one up to 50, but he was the shooter and he brought his 20. No kill but cool hunt.

Tuesday me and another buddy were set up early on hard gobbling turkeys. They flew down and strutted by us at 80 and joined some hens. They got quiet by 8:00 but at 9:00 I got them to crank back up.

Now I'm back in the real world and it sucks. My last tag is burning a hole in my pocket and I'm trying to plan the next day I can hunt.
