sat at the edge of the cow field from sunup to bout 730am and had dang cows sniff my decoy forever so i got aggrevated and left... went to another spot but never heard the first sound of turkey... kinda aggrevating way to start off but im hoping it gets alot better next time... so far- im not hooked! :(

Its still very early and the toms have plenty of hens right now ,.. be patient ,. it will fire up in about 2 weeks. Just wait til you get that dude coming in ,.. you'll love it!!

cool that gives me hope... so earlier in the season is when they are more henned up and later in the season theyre on the search for the last remaining? kinda like the rut? im not going to give up but i can only hunt on saturdays (usually) and so far its been really rainy

It depends on the year bucky jr. Some years the breeding will start late feb. or early march ,.. making early season the time to hunt hard. BUT,.. years like this its late. Early season is tuff because you still have so many hens to compete with. When you gets hens on nest ,. the toms are much more vocal and likely to make it in to your calling, and not taken away by a hen.

This is my opinion,.. but years like this is the best for hunting. I think the toms know when they have all the hens bred and they just stop period by late april. This year,.. late april should be good hunting. Watch your hens,.. when you start noticing single hens instead of hen groups ,.. you need to be hunting hard all day long!!

Hang in there and hunt hard buddy!! If it were easy,..they wouldn't call it hunting!!

will do--thanks for the encouragement... honestly i dont even know where the turkey roost/eat/ect on the places i hunt... im just kinda going in blind and calling and seeing what happens... i do locater calls but if i dont hear anything, i know nothing else to do but sit and slate call for a bit and listen...

If you do hear one gobble at you,.. try to split the difference with him if he sounds like he is more than 100 yards. Then start calling again.AND, The more you know about were the turkey are at(roost), and were they are wanting to go(feeding areas),. the more you improve your odds.
