First Season Turkey Hunting

and it seems like april 2nd will not get here quick enough....and 1 question does anyone have any advice for hunting on public land

Hunt from 10 am to 2 pm most hunters are out of the woods by this time.

You better make sure that you really want to do this.

It can become addictive. I'm serious.

As far as public birds go, that is a tough way to start out. I would ask anybody and everybody you know (co-workers, in-laws, church members) if they might have access to a place you can hunt.

If you can hook up with an experienced turkey hunter, it would help you a lot.

10-3pm are the best times to kill a bird IMO on any land..public or private. if I can get a bird to gobble in those times chances are he is going to die.

Be careful with decoy set up and don't get shot. A friend of mine got shot on public land by putting his decoy between his blind and a gravel road some road hunters travelled.
