Made a quick trip to the range on a rare day off. I decided to rent a Springfield Armory Milspec A1 1911 chambered in .45 caliber. It has been eons since I shot one, so I tried it again...so it kinda is and isn't my first time.

It felt good in the hand, didn't have a lot of recoil. The sights were minimal and plain Jane. There wasn't the white dots you see on other pistols

But I was impressed. The first shot was 5 yds away and hit bullseye. I emptied the rest of the mag and they all centered around the bullseye. I liked that. After that, I sent the target to 7 yds and emptied the rest of the box. For my first time, I was impressed and has me thinking about getting a 1911.

First time I shot one I was hooked. I couldn't imagine not owning one.

I had a little problem feeding with some Lee TC cast but, after seating to 1.190", no more problems feeding. I like .45's a lot. My uncle got me hooked on them back around 1990 or so.

I own 2. One is a Tisas and the other is a USGI that i purchased from the CMP last year. It has a 1943 Colt frame and a 1944 Remington-Rand slide. Both are shooters and a lot of fun to shoot!

When I was 14 I got to shoot a close friends dad's 1911 at their deer lease. the model was a Springfield TRP in 45 ACP after shooting it I always wanted one, but I knew it was expensive.

3 years ago I found the same model that was brand new at my LGS on sale. I have it sitting in my safe and carry it during the winter, absolute nail driver.

I have two Colt series 70 1911's. One is a bright nickel finish that I worked my ass off for over the summer of 1984. I paid $400 for it and it took me three months to earn it. The other is a standard blue finish that is the one I shoot. I also have a Citadel 1911 in 38 Super that is very accurate. It also shoots 9mm well.

John Browning has a long list of great designs and this one is near the top of the list. Some may say it is number 1!

I've read about John Browning and watched some videos on him. The man was way ahead of his time.
