this is my first year bow hunting i have killed many of deer in my life witha gun but u was wondering if any bidy had any tips to help me this bow season.
TNDeerGuy said:1. Realize that it is completely different from gun hunting.
2. Use a cut-on-contact broadheadthey have worked for thousands of years and continue to kill thousands of deer.
3. Your first year out and especially your first deer, don't shoot at anything past 20yds.
4. Always remain standing during times of peak movementit eliminates an extra step in movement that you will have to make.
5. Practice, practice, practice and more practice.
6. Understand shot placement and angles of trajectory for up-close such as archery hunting.
7. and practice shooting from your stand at the height you will be hunting.
8. run a couple 50 yd sprints and then immediately upon finishing, with no rest at all, shoot your bow. (it will closely imitate the physiological effects of "buck fever")
9. have I mentioned practice yet??
10. don't get all goofy with archery gadgets, keep it simple!
11. as soon as you get in your tree range the entire area around you so you know exactly what yardage a deer is at when it gets in range.
12. Don't forget to practice! Practice with broadheads, from elevated positions, shooting under stress, etc...
13. Make sure your bow is in perfect tune!!!!!!!
These are a few that just came to mind and I'm sure others will add to it! Welcome to the sport of archery from another 'Bama boyI'm originally from Skyline.
