Is there such a thing as a portable fish finder that could be attached to any boat?
Primarily mean when you travel and or have to rent a boat.
Want vertical sonar and side scanning feature.
Mounting the transducer properly would seem to be the biggest issue.

JPierce looks like this is an older thread but it still showed up for me on a search so thought I'd clear this up for others. Basically no portable model that's out right now had side scan/side imaging, so you're left with just jerry-rigging a mounting solution for an existing "permanent" FF + transducer with side scan.

Best bet is to drop the side scan requirement. If that works, then you're best bet is the nacelle-mounted transducer + display of the Humminbird Fishin' Buddy line, or an arm-mount + tranducer of something like the Deeper PRO+. Personally I'd go with the PRO+ since I really like the Lakebook feature.

Anyway, my two cents. Both are here if you want the full writeup: https://fishingtech.com/fish-finders/best-portable-fish-finder/

Best,
Andrew
