Fletching question

super glue gel

I could never get Bohning Fletch-tite Platinum to bond 100% of the time. Super glue gel works everytime. I just buy the packs of 8 small tubes at Hobby Lobby for around $3 and throw the opened ones away when done.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Home Depot sell that under the Locktite brand in a plastic squeeze container that works pretty good. I have used it in tying my foam flies. Occasionally I have to trim down part of the tube, but it works for more than one time.

If you like them and need some more. I have a pile of them that have been sitting in the bottom of one of my archery boxes from when I shot them. There's at least enough to fletch a dozen arrows. Let me know and I'll send them to you. They're doing me no good.

Thanks! I thought I would fletch up a couple and see how they do. It seems like everyone on the TV shows is shooting some of the little 2" fletch. I have a feeling it may not be enough for my Slick Tricks.

I use Fletch-Tite Platinum. I has always worked good for me unless it was old or on arrows with paint on them.
Now that you mention it, I started spray painting caps on my arrows instead of using wraps. I wonder if this is when I started having problems with the platinum.

Loctite gel or Gorilla glue works for me....... I have a hard time with the Fletch-tite stuff......

Just be caereful cause those superglue tybe adhesives turn white after they dry......Dont over do it....

I think you will like them. The youngest has used a lot of different vanes. The last were the Blazers that everyone loved. He had me strip them off and put the quick spins back on.

If you go to a good hobby store, in the modeling department the will have a zillion kinds of glue. Get a bottle of the "super glue" type adhesive and a spray bottle of accelerator.

Apply glue to vane, put in jig, make SURE its where you want it, spritz with accelerator and WHAM! its cured. Takes about 10 seconds.

Hmmm Now that I think about it. I may buy a single fletching jig instead of the 6x. With the super glue and accelerator, I can fletch arrows just as fast.

I use super glue gel . Works great on carbon shafts and shafts with wraps . I never lose a fletching , but it is hard to remove the excess glue and vanes when replacing a torn fletching . That is a trade off for superior bonding and I'll take that any day over an adhesive that is easy to peal off when refletching .

I prefer the Fletch tite Platinum. Never had any problem what so ever out of it unless you don't clean your arrows. If you don't clean your arrows the fletching will come loose with any glue. I use "hot" water only, no solvents or anything. After I have removed the old fletching, clean, wipe the excess off with a paper towel. I use it arrow wraps as well with no problem. Cleaning the arrow shaft is a must.I have fletching that has been on for several years by using the hot water as a cleaner.
