Found a big one

I found him in mid October and had pictures of him in July so my best guess is he died around late August early September. Either someone put an arrow in him during the velvet hunt, old age or disease got him. Where this was at I kinda doubt a hunter was responsible. I don't think anyone hunts around there during the late August hunt. Looks as if he may have been blind in one eye according to the picture ( only one glowing ). Found laying in a creek.

Agreed. Those bases look shed and rubbed out for sure. If he died in velvet the antlers would have a very rough surface where they didn't finish hardening out.
Yeah you can tell he had probably just shed when this happened but by the way they look I'm betting it was long after, no more than a week or two
 
What county did you find him in? I have pictures of a similar deer (hard to tell) but I don't think he died in that time period.
