So I killed my 11 point in November in the backyard. Since then, I have seen one deer in person on the property. Very little sign, and a couple trail cam pics every 3-4 days at most.

The property is mostly fields with plenty of browse which the deer love certain times of year. The wooded section is 90% cedar thicket, with a few oaks here and there.

Oaks dropped in October, just a few red oak acorns and a bumper crop from the chinkapins. Deer ate those up by mid November, I killed my buck chasing a doe, but after that, there was no high quality food source on the property.

Anyway I walked most of the woods today in the snow with the 20 gauge trying to kick up a rabbit. No rabbits, but I did kick up a quail and shot a dove.

I did not see one single deer track the whole time, mostly coyote and bobcat tracks. Like not a single solitary deer track, they just haven't been there since it snowed, and I only found one set of tracks before it snowed.

Anyway I decided to ride the back roads and take pics of the scenery this evening instead of deer hunt. It was really nice, but while I was out there I got pics from my cell cam of these....

It's like they did it just to laugh at me.....they win this round lol

Did get some good pics of the scenery though.

I've been hunting a small piece of property that a buddy of mine owns. It's pretty much a pass through area so they can approach from multiple directions. Anyway, December was extremely slow so I packed away my gear a bit early and told my friend to watch, the deer will reappear. Sure enough on the next day I get a text from him that there are three does standing under one of the ladder stands! Ah well, at least I have a couple of decent bucks on camera that can grow another year.

Deer know what they are doing for sure! I wanted one last doe last night for the freezer so I went out to my neighbors property and stood next to a cedar tree for 2 hours freezing my butt off. I see nothing almost the whole evening and then at 5:16 (2 min till end of legal) I finally see movement, my heart jumps and I get the gun ready. 2 bucks. And those were the only deer seen. My neighbors back field is normally packed with 10+ does and I just saw two bucks who were not legal. Dang deer.
