They beat my butt today. 7am till 2pm. I should have known to stay away from field birds, but couldn't resist the sight of 6 strutting toms. They aren't easy to ambush when they have no distinguishable travel pattern.

On the bright side, I know which way most if not all of them went, they're all in the woods now. Just hope I can get a gobblers interest. There's a group of 3 toms with no hens last I saw. Got a full belly and 2 cans of Monster and ready to head back into the woods.

it does, I hunted these same field birds last year and it took me the better part of the first week of season before I finally set up in the right place.

I'm not sure where they've gone to but I'm in the vicinity where they were headed earlier, and not heard a peep. Birds have not been vocal since about mid day. Got half an hour for something to fire up, or can happen, it did yesterday, but I kind of doubt it will today.
