I sanded down the green one more than I intended to and just used a random hook I had laying around. The other 6, including the pictured yellow one was tied on these.

Good looking bugs! those are some good sized ones. 8089s tend to run big compared to b10s dont they?

The 8089's are quite a bit larger than the b10's. I probably tie 90% of my warm water flies on b10's, but like the thinner gauge wire of the 8089's for larger poppers and deer hair bugs. The 8089's also give me a slightly longer hook shank to work with.

If you get a chance, try some paulownia too. It's super light compared to basswood, almost like balsa, but a good bit tougher.
