Noles247.com has learned Everett Golson is on campus at Florida State. The potential quarterback transfer from Notre Dame is visiting FSU today, per multiple sources. It's unknown how long he's going to be in Tallahassee and there is also no word on when he plans to make his decision.

Earlier in the day 247Sports.com reported the Seminoles are the frontrunner to land Golson.

There is no timetable for when he'll announce a new home, but sources indicate it would be after he graduates. Notre Dame's 2015 Commencement Weekend is May 15-17.

Golson led Notre Dame to the BCS Championship game in 2012 and in his career has thrown 41 touchdown passes to 20 interceptions. In 2014, the Myrtle Beach, S.C., native accounted for 43 total touchdowns.

He would fit in well with the new running game.

i totally disagree. fsu has recruited well at qb. i figured you would know this

If Golson does land in Tallahassee, I don't think he is going to be handed the job. If he beats out Maguire ok, but they don't hit the practice field until July and while there are some similarities between ND's and FSU's offense scheme, Golson will really have to shine in short order to win the job.

Maguire is a good kid and Nole. Golson is a better QB and Jimbo will tailor the plays for him. I believe Jimbo thought Winston would be back this year.I don't know if Golson comes for sure, but if he does it's because Fisher wants him. I'll trust Jimbo on this.

So you're saying Jimbo can't recruit QB's but he can design plays for a 5th year sr that went 12-0 in 2012

Sorry you must have mixed my post with another.

Whoever gets Golson better hope he's figured out how to not give the football away to the other team as often as he did the second half of last season. The kid totally cratered mentally. Brain Kelly should have benched him much earlier in the season.

If you are a UGA fan, you want him to stay in Gainesville.

But I'm still confused by this turn of events. Paul Finebaum, THE authority on the SEC, said Braxton Miller was transferring to Alabama. Paul missed this Golson development.

I figured that he might end up at UT since CBJ needs a starting QB in the SEC...... :poke:

Who is this ex-Armwood QB.?

So we have a Notre Dame quarterback with National Championship game experience banging at our door begging us to let him play backup QB, while the gata is just hoping to land castoffs from Oregon State and Vanderbilt. Life is good.

FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher said Golson would not automatically be the starting quarterback if he chose to finish his career in Tallahassee, but he certainly has the strongest resume of any of the candidates. In a down-to-the-wire, 31-27 loss at FSU, Golson completed 31 of 52 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions. He also rushed 11 times for 33 yards and completed a controversial touchdown pass that would have won the game for Notre Dame in the final seconds, had it not been called back due to a penalty.

When he arrives at FSU, Golson will compete with junior Sean Maguire, sophomore John Franklin III, redshirt freshman J.J. Cosentino and a pair of true freshmen -- De'Andre Johnson and Deondre Francois. Maguire was the clear frontrunner for the position during spring practice, but he delivered an inconsistent performance in the spring game.
