Going out in the morning to check a few areas for my son. I can't wait for him to get his first turkey. Wondering who will be more excited me or him.

Best of luck on your youth hunt!!

No problem and your welcome....

It has been kinda quiet in the sub-forums lately....

I am planning on taking my oldest niece on the youth hunt this weekend... I hope things go well but hey not going to be disappointed if she don't kill one. I'm sure she will be just as excited to get out and after one.

Man I'm sure the excitement will be equal. My oldest daughter has zero interest in hunting. My youngest daughter is 6 and I'm hoping to maybe have a shot with her. MAYBE!! My son will be a year old on april 29th, so I got a few more years before he his ready. SO, hope someday soon to experience that excitement for myself. Let us know how the scouting goes. The local reports I am hearing are not good. No gobbling at all.

BTW, welcome to the team stickler!!

Pumped about tomorrow mourning. Haven't been to this farm yet this year. But know I left seven longbeards last year and owner says they are everywhere.

Saturday morning had 2 come running in. One was the biggest turkey i have ever seen . My son saw him and could not take his eyes off of him. The other was also a very good bird and came right up to about 20yds away. Stuck his head out and i was trying to tell my son to shoot him. He never even seen him cause he was fixed on the huge one. Then he shifted his gun on the big one and the other seen him. Need less to say they ran off. I guess he is more like me than i thought LOL. Was a great day anyhow and he is more geeked than ever to get one now.

I haven't had time to get on in a couple days just wanted to share something with you guys. I have a 6 yr old son. He born premature and is a little small for 6. He has been to the duck blind many times. Sitting at home one night I got out my youth model 870 to see the possibilities of him shooting it and it would not be possible. So volsjp and I were out running around and stumbled on a mossberg 510 turkey thugs. It is lighter and shorter than the 870. So we were worried about recoil. Volsjp reloaded a nice light kicking load of 5s and 7.5s and the stars came into alignment Sunday morning at 7 am. I was one pound dad. 22.5 lbs 3/4 spurs 9 in beard.

Shoot talk about one happy Uncle Jip! We have created a MONSTER Tyler. Best of all guys i'm working on putting the video together now. We got it all! What a great first turkey!

Congrates. The turkeys we were on this weekend was still bunched up in big groups and after about 8 they were unresponsive. Hopeing they are in a better mood this weekend.
