The other thread in the general forum got me to thinking.

Would TN gain anything by hiring Fulmer back JUST as a recruiter?
Would that even be possible?

I have always heard he was an amazing recruiter, so why couldn't he recruit but not coach?

Just wondering.

They did do something! They hired Butch! He has the 2nd best recruiting class in the nation coming in next year. He is still playing games with Dooley's players. It will be 2 or 3 years before we will see any huge improvements. Gotta be patient. Dooley is a terrible recruiter and it shows every Saturday.
 
I don't see Fulmer doing anything with the team in a coaching or recruiting role. He is a senior statesman and goodwill Ambassador for the college now.

Butch Jones is just a few games into his first year at UT. He has Three wins and two losses right now. Not any worse than Fulmer would be right now with the same team
 
Butch is doing a great job. He has motivated the team and fanbase, has a great recruiting class, and has won the games he was supposed to win so far this year. With the talent level left by Dooley, TN was NOT supposed to beat Oregon or Fl. IMO however, TN is headed in the right direction.

Fulmer was a great recruiter and coach, but got lazy after the national championship. The real question on Fulmer is why no other school has hired him?
