I'll make a short story, long.....
Got home last night, one of the horses was out (standing in the front....where he's NOT supposed to be), jumped out and got him put away, dogs came barrel'in out, daughter came barrell'in out to say hi, and low and behold....there stands a 10 pointer (maybe a big 8) in the field behind the house. Standing almost exactly where I shot the 8 a few weeks ago (300+ yards). This guy is a lot bigger and wider than the 8. In all this "welcome home Daddy" commotion I ran and got my binos and rifle and set up on a fence post and glassed him for about 30 min. At one point I though he was going to give me a shot but he just stood there behind a small rise in the field. I held the crosshairs on his chest for about 10 min. It was a true standoff....he won this round. It was about 1700 and I started losing legal shooting light so I let him walk.
This morning, about 20 min. after I left for work my wife calls and says "I have good news and bad news"......"the good news, the big buck was standing next to your shop....the bad news, the dogs went ape
and tore after him 
and chased him up the hill"
Game on Mr. Buck. We shall meet again.
Hopefully they didn't run him off for good. Gonna let the field settle down for a few days and pray the good Lord brings him back.
