Here is an article I found interesting about Florida and some things said about them!!I didnt say it gator, someone that views Florida like me!!

• Florida vs. USC: Sadly, this game never happened in the Urban Meyer and Pete Carroll eras. This matchup, of course, would require the Gators to actually leave the state of Florida for a regular-season game more than once every quarter-century.

Here is a list of each SEC team and the last time they played on the west coast, looks like you can put Kentucky and Florida in the same boat, lol :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Team Last Time West
Alabama 2003 at Hawaii
Arkansas 2005 at USC
Auburn 2002 at USC
Florida 1983 at USC
Georgia 2010 at Colorado
Kentucky Never
LSU 2009 at Washington
Ole Miss 2011 at Fresno State
Mississippi State 2002 at Oregon
Missouri 2011 at Arizona State
South Carolina 1981 at Hawaii
Tennessee 2013 at Oregon
Texas A&M 2009 at Colorado
Vanderbilt 1979 at Air Force

yes but Gators did go north in 1991, 1992 season to play an out of conference game in New York vs. Syracuse.
That's right. Florida has not played an out-of-conference game outside the state of Florida since 1991 and hasn't won one since 1989.

Let's put that into perspective: the last time the Gators scheduled, and beat, a non-conference opponent outside of Florida, the average price of gas in the US, per Energy.gov, was $0.90 a gallon. The number one song, according to Billboard.com, was Milli Vanilli's "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You." And George Bush was still settling into the White House -- the first George Bush.

In that same span of time, Florida State has played outside its home state 22 times against OOC teams, 10 of which were ranked (10 came prior to 1992, when FSU began its ACC football affiliation). Still, the 'Noles have dominated that competition outside of the Sunshine State, amassing a record of 18-4 in such games since 1989.

Every one of those games came against a team now in a Power 5 conference with the exception of Tulane, two contests with BYU in which the Cougars were ranked each time, and a pair of showdowns with Notre Dame, the first of which, of course, earned the billing of "The Game of the Century."

Of those 22 games, 14 came against teams that played in a bowl that year. Florida's last such contest, a loss at Syracuse, came at the hands of an Orange squad that the 'Noles beat 46-14.

The last OOC game UF won came against a 2-9 Memphis State team (all the way back when it was still called Memphis State, as opposed to Memphis).

The last non-conference regular-season win for the Gators outside the state of Florida against a team that finished with a winning record? Buckle up, because this one took some digging. It occurred against a 5-3-1 North Carolina State team in Raleigh.

In 1947.

Yes: the most recent UF victory over a winning OOC team outside of Florida came in the same year that FSU began playing college football.

Most Vol fans know that Fulmer schedule the West Coast games to help recruiting. It was a very good move on his part. It helped get kids like Foster, Ainge, Clausen, and several others. When Dooley took over they stopped scheduling West Coast teams.

This has been covered on here several times... :) As far as FL playing 8 games in FL is no different than UT playing 8 in TN every year.

If most of your targets are in the State of FL, why play anywhere else.

"Bowden says SEC would have been too difficult for FSU to win national title" :tu:

Great research baddnole,I think everyone knows Florida just refuses to play outside the South :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: One more thought on this,Florida fans should get a petition going to turn in to the athletic dept and demand that they start scheduling a big name out of conference team that's not in the south,Florida's fans are getting cheated by the athletic dept

Umm... Sounds great but there's one major flaw with your debate. FL strenght of schedule has been tougher than UTs the last 10 out of 11 years. UF has enough competition without leaving the south... :tu:
