How can i get the last bit of glue off my arrows, i have tried hot water, lighter to heat the glue, scrubbing with goo gone, and i still cant get the last little bit of stubble off so i can get a good set on my new fletchings
I use a fletching removing tool . You can also use a dull utility knife and rotate the shaft as you strip off the glue . Don't use a sharp blade because it will cut the carbon fibers .
yea i need to get a fletching removal tool i guess, i have just been cutting the edge with nail clippers, and then pulling the vanes the rest of the way off
What I like about the tools are the curved blades that follow the contour of the arrow shaft and don't cut into the fibers like a straight blade edge will .
I use all of the above. I use either a stripping tool, a dull utility knife (I have an old one that is just for vane/feather stripping), or a dull pocket knife, to strip the fletch and scrape the glue off as much as I can. Then I use acetone on OOOO steel wool. this will clean what ever is left on the shaft in short order. If you have a graphic on the fletching part of the shaft it will remove it also. So hold the other hand on the arrow so as to protect the graphics. Do not submerse or soak carbon arrow in acetone. A rag will work also but the OOOO steel wool works better and faster. I have used OOO steel wool but it is a little too aggressive for my taste. Stick with the OOOO.
