Funny story behind this one actually. To make a long story short, I missed the running gobbler and hit the still hen. Their paths happened to cross at the wrong time for her. When I saw that the monster longbeard kept running and the hen was left lying, my heart sank a bit...until I approached her. What are the chances?

awesome man. have been trying to kill a bearded hen for a couple years. congrats, sorry bout the "other longbeard"

I am seeing more and more of them around here. Most of which aren't nearly that size. Looks like if I'd have been shooting at her, I woulda missed anyway. Dumb luck lol

That's a good hen right there, I'd be bummed about the longbeard but definitely glad to get the bearded hen.

Awesome man. Not to hijack but similar thing happened to me last year. Was waiting out big boy, had fallen asleep in my blind, came to, saw the bird with the beard, focused on the beard, and boom. That's a nice beard on a hen you've got

It's funny you say something about falling asleep...this is way off topic but, I fell asleep listening to gobbles on the roost last year on the edge of a field. One of those still mornings where the gobbles rocked the ground. I woke up to a gobble about 15 yards behind me, and had a bird strutting in my decoys. After I regained my composure, cleaned out my pants, and somehow got my gun to my shoulder I killed the front bird. I couldn't get up from laughing so hard. Good campfire story anyway
