What are they called now? So hard to keep up with whether they are allowed to say 'Rebel' anymore. Just drop the mascot altogether, and just known as Ole miss?
Did they go woke ?
Maybe they are called THE FIDDYS……. Fiftieth in education!
whatever they did worked….of all the cupcake beatdowns…..theirs was most impressive

Admin and professors are full on woke, student body is not for the most part.
The axed Colnel Reb several years ago for hurt feelings and changed the mascot to a teddy bear I think. Nobody liked the teddy bear, at the defense was good at the time and nicknamed themselves the land sharks, so that stuck for a bit as an unofficial mascot. They were still known as the Ole miss rebels, but without Col Reb. Now they are dropping the 'Rebels' altogether and just want to be called Ole Miss I think, but I really don't know. It's been a little confusing trying to find a new identity as a liberal university in a very conservative state I think.

Actually I'm pretty proud of the states education system...
While we #48 in the nation just a decade ago, we are now up to #32 in the nation for 2023 rankings and continuing to rise. Combination of 3rd grade reading gate (kids don't advance to 4th grade unless they can read), really good pre-K programs, and not canceling in person learning for a couple years during covid really pushed us ahead (or perhaps lots of other states are just falling faster?)
And those improvements are in spite of a population demographic that caused many to think would make it impossible to to improve.
In fact, I think we are right behind TN education wise now.
But we are still the syphilis capital of the US.
Their qb looked like John Elway out there. Of course, you have to consider the competition but he did impress
