Gobbler Call

depends on how much you want to practice at it.

1. gobble shaker - easy to use but sound pretty bad IMO, however I know people that use them with good results.

2. Haint - expensive but sounds pretty good, however will require a lot of practice

3. Box call - tie rubberbands around it and shake the piss out of it, pretty easy to use and do.

4. Tube call - My personal favorite but requires A LOT of practice to use. Sounds the closest to real IMO and you can yelp, cut and purr on it as well as gobble so it is an all around call.

also you can look on youtube for gobbling on a diaphragm. Just an FYI on that one, if you can gobble on a diaphragm you can do it on a tube call, its the same air that works both.

This year I've decided to go calless all togeather. Guess I'll see how it goes.

That just sounds boring to me. But if you limit out that way, I will have to give you props for sure.

First time I ever went turkey hunting was in 2010... only time I went that year, and it was with a friend on one of his hunting spots. He did all the calling... before birds flew down at dawn, he hit a gobbler shaker once or twice. Got all the birds gobbling in the trees. Then he used a mouth and slate call to get a gobbler almost in range, but then the bird saw the struttin decoy and backed off.

Haven't used a gobble call myself while hunting, and don't plan on it really unless I know it's a dominant bird or something.... also I mainly hunt public land, lol

I misunderstood you tndrbstr. Thought you meant you would be calless as in you would be making no calls at all to the birds.

For years there were just about three calls everyone used, a wing bone made into a yelper, a rubber streched over a snuff can, and what was called as REN said a gobble box. I never used a box to make calls only to make a gobble sound. You need to be careful using a gobble to call. There are a lot of people that will just shoot at sound and movement.
