My dad and I rarely hunt together most of the time I'll drop him off at a farm and I'll go to another. He will almost not hunt without a Tom decoy. He had birds on him all morning and none would pay any mind to him. He broke out his stutter decoy and topped the hill and had 3 mature birds almost run him over. I got whooped on the farm I was on trying to call them off the hens. We got to talking and said he wouldn't kill hardly any without it. This goes to show what setterman and others are talking about is true. As easy as it would be I'm going with just my calls and gun this evening as usual. May come home empty handed but if not I'll work for it. Not trying to start anything or beat on a dead horse just making a statement. That's all thanks.

Had a gobbler skirt me on neighbors field yesterday. Set up a strutter to see if it's as easy as everyone says to get him over. 3 longbeards came out in field I set up on. Not a one would come in. They just strutted around the field like they didn't care. It's not the magic trick alot thinks it is.

I have seen them work and I have seen them fail. Typically in big open areas they get leery of the turkeys never moving. Smaller areas they will come on in. Like everything with turkeys, it just depends.

Can't say I ever had any luck with a strutter decoy or if it helped or hurt me in anyway. I still have it but haven't looked at the thing in a few years. I did take my jake and 2 hens this weekend in case I took my nephew on the KY juvi but that didn't happen. I have nothing against someone using decoys but anymore I would rather pack as light as possible where I can get around fast if need be.
