I know where the birds are and have killed a nice one and seen a few more but I am not hearing nothing for the most part not even on the roost. They are so tight lipped its not even funny any ideas on this? I am just plum confused I have even seen birds by thier self and they still want gobble.

Haven't been gobbling much up on the mountain. Turkeys I've killed so far haven't made a sound. It's typical for the pressured turkeys I've been huntin though. Gobbling usually gets good by around the end of the 3rd week up here. Nothin more challenging than killin 'em when they ain't gobbling.

I have heard birds gobbler their heads off on the roost and others that will only gobble 3-4 times. After about 8:00, they all zip their lips. Most the birds I have seen have several hens with them so they have no reason to gobble. I had a hawk fly over a flock and get a couple of shock gobbles out of a bird last weekend.

It baffles me to no end!! I know where the birds are so I guess I got a shot at em anyway but I love to hear them. I seen silver looking hen yesterday ever seen any thing like that?

I hunted near Royal Blue last week Sat. and Sun. heard a few gobbles then nothing Sat. 4 birds came in without making a sound about 30 min. after I heard the gobbles. Not sure what is keeping them quiet and I know these birds have not been pressured. Maybe it is just timing. I have no idea.

Boy that makes that makes 2 of us, these birds im hunting are getting very little pressure I've only seen one other vehicle up there.

I'm in anderson county and between me and my dad, we watch these birds everyday just about. just my opinion i think they are still flocked up. As an ol' man once told me why leave your lady for something you can't see. Now here in a week or so when they split up, I think they will go looking for love else where. in return you"ll hear more. That's just my two cents.

Norris area by Washburn they are gobbling on the roost 7:30ish, heard a couple gbls on the ground around 9:00, then nothing. On the other side of the coin, I heard them on Easter in Blount Co. all afternoon. Came running in Gobbling all the way till the Boom.

Yup, but can't stand the ATV folks who ride and blow crow/owl calls all dam day. They are totally out of control, and ruin hunting for everyone including themselves.

Yeah I have seen birds just hunker down till ATV,s go by then go back to doing thier thing, I really wish I had a good farm or some place to go but guess its better than nothing. I work hard for every bird I get. As I get older the mountains get steeper my leukimia is just whipping me good!

I hunt in polk and the last 2 years on opening morning I have heard 8-10 all morning. This year I didnt hear a freaking gobble?
i have been three times and heard 7 gobbles, all by one bird.

Hey hey! That is the only way to hunt IMHO. Go until you get one to gobble, then go after him. No need to stay if nothing is going to gobble.

Birds up High have been funny. Saturday and Sunday was weird, no much at all, but then on MOnday they came alive, gobbled until 11:00, then I had one to gobble really well at 4:25, then I killed a bearded hen (another post) The 8:00 thunderstorm may of had something to do with it. Now this morning the birds shutup cold front kinda screwed with them, hopefully in the morning it won't be the same....
