The Lord blessed me this afternoon with another opportunity to do battle with an old nemesis and the scales finally tilted in my favor. I've been hunting this old bird for 3 seasons now and he finally got to take a ride in my truck. The gobbling where I hunt has been almost non-existent for the last 2-3 years and I have contributed that to this ole rascal. I haven't heard a peep all weekend but was fortunate to take a 3 year old yesterday morning as he came in silent. This afternoon I got set up on a small clover plot and after letting things settle down I did some soft calling. After receiving no response, I decided to gobble on my tube call. 20 minutes later he stepped out into the plot 40 yards to my right. Even at that distance I recognized his daggers. 20 lbs 10 oz. 1 3/8" and 1 7/16" spurs. 9.5" beard.
