I love the way longbeards pattern, but I don't really need that tight of a pattern hunting thick mountain terrain. I'm going back to Winchester xxs. I killed a ton of birds before all the latest greatest shells came out and I have never had a shot that I wanted to take past 40 yards. Most of my shots are 30 or closer. Anyone else shoot the old lead loads?

I still shoot the old Winchester Super-X 3'' loads. Tried a few others but nothing ever shot as good in my old gun. I won't shoot over 40 yards on purpose. Don't know if I'd call myself Old School or just satisfied?

I still shoot lead out of my "short" barrel for anything inside 30 yards. Just don't need anything else.

I shot the old silver box Winchester 3" #4 shot for a long time. Killed 10 or 12 birds with them too. I switched to Longbeard XR's a few years ago but, may go back to the old silver box.

I would love to find a box of the old federal premium before flight control wads. Best lead loads ever made prior to longbeards. Imo

The turkey thug loads Walmart sold a few years back, were the old federal loads. I bought 30 boxes before Walmart stopped carrying them.
