He may die soon, but it won't be from starvation.

Yes, I am thinking gross,
although "mainframe gross", and not counting that forward sticker on his R base.

Where I'm not seeing the 140's is with the tine length.
If his tines were longer, he could be up in the 150's.
As is, I see 130's.

He's a real trophy due to his age alone.

We're all different in what we're looking for,
but for me, "score" is pretty low on the list.

I "like" age, mass, and uniqueness.

Gross?

I dont get too worked up over score. He's more mature than any I've killed and he's plenty big enough. But "guess the score" is a fun game to play.

agreed.....135 +/- my bid will be 134 ,but beautiful....Keep us posted when you put a tape on it....

Agree.
But I believe your buddy's buck has (on average) longer tines than the one Southern Sportsman has posted.
Look at the brows (maybe 1/2" shorter each), then look at the other tines.
If each of 8 tines average 1/2" shorter than your buddy's, that takes off 4" in the comparison,
i.e. a 140 becomes a 136.

Just guessing :tu:
He could very well turn out to be much larger than my guess.

His big body is making his rack appear somewhat smaller in overall size and scale than it likely is.
I agree that is likely, but do we know just how big is his body?
I've been badly fooled by some very mature bucks with all the "looks",
but they turned out to be muscular midgets,
which in turn made their 120-ish racks look like 140-ish.

You're buddy's deer was 140 1/8. Is that net score? It's very symmetrical so probably not much difference.
Gross score. Killed last day of season running does, notice his run down body weight.
