I am looking into getting a recurve to do some traditional hunting. I feel it is too late to get one to hunt with this year cause I want to be prepared and shoot it well. I want to go ahead and buy one and start shooting it when I can to be ready for the 09 season. I had a gentlemen price a bear to me for $100. I don't know anything about it except that it is a bear and looks mint. I am totally in the dark on most of this o here's a few ?'s before I buy.

What poundage do I need to get? ( I pull 70lbs. with my switchback...so do I need 50lbs or something else.)

Is $100 reasonable or should I spend more or less?

Is there actually a good starter to buy or are most traditional bows about the same?

Thanks and good look this coming bow season

good luck

it is a challenge but very rewarding
My dad shoots a dreamcatcher, it really is a great bow. He just ordered some heritage arrows from black widow with a red white wrap and white and red/wblack fletchings. Sharp.

TThat is a good price for a Bear bow if it has no cracks or splits in the limbs. Bear still sells recurves and they are 300.00 or more new.
