Spent the weekend out at Laurel Hill. First time there. Heard some gobbles in the afternoons but never saw any birds. Had a great time regardless and looking forward to the rest of the season. Great pics I've seen so far.

Good deal and good luck. I was talking to someone I know out on Williamsport recently and he said Laurel Hill population has gone down with the rest of the decline in those southern counties. He too thinks it's from all the chicken farming and spreading the crap all over the fields. Glad to hear you heard some birds. I only went to laurel hill once and it was for a deer hunt and I saw some deer sign but ended up not going back the next day. Some pretty land down there for sure.

I went to Williamsport on March 27th and 28th for an early season hunt they had there. Was about the same at Laurel Hill, heard a few gobbles in the afternoon but didn't see any birds. Looked like some good land for turkeys though.

I saw Cheatham WMA had a good harvest over the weekend. I picked Laurel Hill over Cheatham. Sumner and Wilson Co's also had some good numbers.

I live in Davidson and will try Priest Lake in the afternoons but I dont expect much. Always a good time though.

I love laurel hill, but foe some reason I just don't turkey hunt it much anymore. I haven't set foot on the place since season before last. the population here in Lawrence County sucks, I've always got on birds there, but never killed one there.

The game warden here in Lawrence County told me Saturday that he seen some graphs from twra that showed almost every county in TN on a steady downhill decline, except Lawrence and wayne and he said it looked like it fell straight off of a bluff, In 2 years just like I've been telling people

Then it was the 28th and 29th, it was a Saturday and Sunday. I got my license checked both days so I must have been legit. :)
