I don't blame the guy. Pet peeve of mine. He prolly measured his spurs from back of leg. I've seen several morons do that.
It makes me crazy. Any long beard is a trophy and it just diminishes them to lie

1-1/4" MAX. Likely 1-1/8" or 1-3/16".
In my experience anything over a 1-1/8" is dang good spur length.
What i like about turkey hunting. The game you play to shoot them is worth way more than their size. I like big spurs and beards but I don't care what size they are as long as the play the game.

I'm seeing 1 1/8 maybe 1 3/16. Turkey spur length and rack scores are 2 things most hunters don't know how to correctly score. Or when someone says they seen a 150". So help me God, my best friends FIL has killed more bucks than any man I know but one day he was telling me about a 140"+ 8pt he seen. He hung a cam and a week later he got its pic. Would have been lucky to break 110" and this is a guy with 5 on the wall between 140"-162"

Let's not forget that the exact measurement of spurs, antler, beard etc don't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Yes many people don't have a dang clue how to make simple measurements of their trophy. But does it really matter that much...

It don't but for some it's a pet peeve. I mean if someone cares enough to measure then at least do it right. Heck he even said 1 1/2", which they're not, then came back and said they were 1 9/16.

If that's an 1.5", I have a rope full of them then...

I used to hunt with a guy who whenever he killed a bird and I asked him what were the spurs, it was always 2". After awhile, I didn't even ask.

Hell they are hard enough to kill around where I hunt anyway, let alone down grading a bird cause he has 7/8" or even 1" spurs. The hardest turkey I ever hunted only had 1in spurs. That damn turkey gave me nightmares.

he was either trolling or just stupid... everyone could see the spurs were shorter. Who cares what he said they were. I doubt he was trying to win a contest or get in the NWTF record books, so it doesn't really matter if he knew how to measure a spur or not.

It does matter, if it doesn't don't state the size and don't vehemently defend their length.

It's called integrity.
It does matter?
Each bird you kill has longer spurs that the previous?
Why does it matter so much?
Did you pay for this gentleman's license?
Did you pull the trigger on this bird or cook it for the OP?
Did you offer a meal in replacement because it didnt matter?
Did you pay his land taxes or scout this public land bird? (I didnt read to see if it was public or private)
Besides criticizing a fellow sportsman on a separate page as a coward, I dont understand what is wrong here.

You are holier than though, huh?

The actual length of spurs doesn't matter, and I'm pretty sure Setter doesn't think spur length matters. What matters is people who think that it matters so much that they have to falsely claim their turkey had 1.5" spurs so it meets some silly idea of what a "trophy" turkey is or should be. That is what breeds the mentality that a turkey isn't good enough unless he has a 12" beard and 1.5" spurs. And if you want to be a internet hero by claiming that a perfectly respectable turkey with 1 1/8" spurs has 1.5" spurs, I think it's fair and proper for someone else to call bullsh!t.

The actual length of the spur matters not, it's a fine bird as they all are. The issue is they mattered so much to him he lied to try and make it look better for social media purposes. It would've still been a great bird and congrats in order for him if he was honest about the length,

You're not very sharp it appears, as the entire premise and point went right over your head.
