Figuring my season was over from tearing ligaments in my ankle a week ago I haven't stepped into the woods since. WGK came down this morning and I sent him up on the other ridge. With my brace strapped on tight I started up the other ridge. I was pushing through the pain and low and behold made it to the top. Got setup on a field edge and heard one gobble about 300yrds away on the other side of of the ridge. Hit the logging road and owl hooted until I got what I thought was close enough. This ole boy was fired up. Once he gobbled 5 straight times in a row. About 7 I hear I have some competition. So I start soft yelping mimicking her. I guess I had a prettier mouth cause he would cut me off. After a couple times I quit. I didn't hear him flydown but about 720 I saw him about 60yrds strutting towards me but before he got in a opening he turned back around. For 15min I could see him every now and then. Worried he had left I softly yelped and he sounded like he was in my pocket. I started scratching the leaves and I saw that head. He was 40yrds straight to my right. Soon as he got behind I tree I turned my gun and when he cleared it the heavyweight dropped him. There was another gobbler with him and two other birds I couldn't tell. He got some hooks on him tho. I'll post pics when I get out. It's easier walking up hill with this ankle than it is downhill. I'm having to stop and take a rest on it. Probably not the smartest thing to come but I think it was worth it.

Alot of limping and slow going but finally got out.

21lbs
11inch beard
1 7/16 SPUR. The other spur he musta damaged when he was younger. It was shorter and curved and the end.
His inner legs and bottom of his belly is wore down. You can tell he's done alot of breeding.
