#1 for the season, the wife and I went this afternoon and peaked into a big hayfield and saw 2 toms and a jake, we tried to get down to them but when we popped out there were gone, but I saw a fan at the lower end and two hens, we took off down there and when we got to the lower end their were 4 toms headed right to us, we set up and were gonna have an easy double but when they were 50 yards out a huge Tom stepped out at 40 yards, my wife only had a small hole to shoot through and he wasn't in it, the group of 4 tool off chasing the big one and she couldn't shoot and said if you can shoot do it, I had a hole and at 37 yards I put him down, small body, kinda worn down, 15.2 pounds, 8" beard, .75" spurs, we roosted 6 this evening so we hopefully can get her one in the morning
