Just found out yesterday that I have to make an unexpected business trip next week to NE Wyoming. Timing couldn't be better. It will be the last 2 weeks of the season up there. Company is paying for the flight, rental car and hotel. My client meetings are all in the afternoon thanks to my brilliant scheduling.

I arrive early afternoon on Mon, so hoping to do some scouting and maybe roost one Mon evening. Should be able to hunt every morning Tue - Fri before I have to return Fri afternoon. Figure I'll focus on the section of the Black Hills National Forest that's North of Sundance.

Would appreciate any advice anyone has to offer on hunting this area or hunting Merriams in general.

Also, thinking about checking out Devils Tower while I'm there. Anyone ever been there? Is it worth it? I still love that movie, Close Encounters.

Congrats on the opportunity there are lots of turkey in that area in fact there are several guide services for turkey there now. The devil's tower monument is a great place to visit especially if you have time and like to hike. There is a parking area that gets you up close and personal for a quick visit but the hike is awesome. lots of eagles on the creeks, kazillion deer in the fields in the area just a cool place. The black hills are mostly heavily forrested never hunted turkey in there but I have a friend that owns a ranch in the shadow of the tower and have hunted it many times with great success. Awsome area!
