I finally found some toms yesterday about 9:30. 2 strutters, another longbeard a jake and about 7-8 hens. They were across a field and the chances of getting around to them were slim and none so I tried calling to them. I got some of the hens heading my way so I thought I may have a little chance. After about 20 minutes 2 of the hens had come in and the toms were about 100 yards away. For some reason they decide to move at a different angle taking them to about 150 yds. At this point they were sort of closing in then going away. 1 hen was still near me while the toms were about 100 yards out, thats when the truck came up the road and of course stopped to look at the site. Then the truck leaves but turned around and did it again. No problem right? Nope, he left, came back again and was sitting in the road, thats when the birds had enough and high tailed it out of the field, away from me of course. I couldn't get on them again after that. Oh well, I got to watch them strut for about an hour.
