Had a lot of fun this morning. Decided to play hookie from work for a bit and went on my 5th hunt of the year.Was on some public land and had one gobble near the river so I decided to get agreesive . Had to climb a bunch of deadfalls in the dark because I forgot my flashlight. Set up on the edge of the swamp bottoms in some very thick cover. thought for sure he would fly to the open area between the water and woods. well he gobbled for 30 mins. could hear him fly down and land in the water. after 5 mins he came slipping up through the tall grass walking in the water. when he got up on land thought he would see my decoy but he missed it and was heading into the woods so I layed him down. A larger one flew off which I could not see. 8 inch Beard, 1 inch spurs. 18 pounds. Now will just have to go after that larger one. He was a big bird. Photos will be updated tonight
